PostSubject: The Importance of Practice   1/9/2009, 9:18 am

I'm surprised no one posted here yet. I am not an advocate of too much training due to this being a game,
however, I think a minimal amount of non-MA interaction might be a good thing. For those of weak in air to air,
or JABO or buffs or GVs (to a lesser extent) I think working together maybe twice a month or even once a week,
whatever is decided could only help. When I first started I couldn't dive bomb and hit the ground let alone a hanger.
The thing that saved me was to join the illustrious Skyryder and watch him do it first person. If you practice air to air
against a squaddie and you die, whoever shot you down can then tell you, first hand, how you were killed.
Wouldn't that be nice to know? Anyway just putting in my 2 cents.

Worth more than 2 cents IMO.

Training is important and there is more than one type. There is jabo runs, which being in this squad are important to learn and most everyone of you can do.

Wingman tactics are also very important. Wingman tactics from the real world (WWII and Present) are similar but much different in game. Learning drag and bag I'd have to say is my #1 fav thing to do. Setting up and enemy to be killed by your wingy or other takes maximum SA alertness.

I have a whole section on this topic with pictures and films I'll be posting later.

In the hints and tips section you will also find much information on how to do certain things like experimenting with setting convergences properly, manning 5- 8 inch guns, torp runs, understanding stick settings and more.

Sorry it took so long to get over here Hodag, I agree completly. I have some stuff and have been playing with a training program of basic tactics that everyone should know so no matter who you are flying with you can call "Thatch right" and your wingman will know that you mean to start a thatch to the right. JABO is definitly something everyone should know, no doubt. TOOLS, I can describe most tactics, and like I said, I know alot of them that I think are important to learn, but I may need you to do the visuals if you have not done so already if you are so willing.

Drag and bag sounds interesting. I am an expert at getting enemy pilots on my 6.

LOL Hodag. the trick is getting them off your six. I went to a class that ROLEX was teaching on wingman tactics a while back he covered the drag and bag, thatch weave, and few other things. I will see if I still have that recored so I can post them.

Once we get a little better organized we will do some training, in the meantime if someone wants to go to the DA and work on whatever while I am on let me know - just not on squad nights.
