Gunsights can make all the difference

Finding the right one that works for you is not easy. Many just use the default which is nice but not always right for every plane. The P51 for instance has a smaller window and if you wanted to get real knit picky with it you'd want a slightly smaller sight. I have made many brand new sights for AH and one of them is the down sized default for the F4U's and 51.


I have run out of time for today and will continue on this subject at a later date. GUN SIGHTS are important especially when using rockets or trying to find a gun solution for taking that lead shot.

Using the friendly icons in the background you can figure about how far I am away from th targets. It will give you a good idea of what you can do, i can take dar out from 2k but i usually waste a rocket doing that.

The Green cross hairs are only available in the training arena. It marks exactly where your ord will hit.

Cleaning up ack is simple for me because i know how to use the sights. It took very little practice in the TA using sights like the the yellow ones I've made for you. I can basically use any or NO sight at all now to kill ack from distance because of them.


Most of these sights you can just copy and paste right into your HTC/sights folder. Right click, save image to Picture folder then find it, drag and drop it in the HTC's Sights Folder and your done.

The sight I'm using through this is the first of it's kind i made and one of the bottom choices i would recommend since many improvements have been made since. As you see, they are set up to be accurate.

Use these

The one with the vertical bracket is best. The one withe dash is good also. just place the ack or target on the dash and fire from a 45 degree angle.

Nice post TOOLS. I am using the sight that has the lil hat thing at the bottom and the ^ with the dot in it. I think you made it for the A8's and I have kept it all this time. I love that sight. Thanks again man (S).

Great stuff TOOLS. I can bomb from that angle, but I usually come in a little steeper, about 60 degreese I think. The steeper the angle, the less room for error. The draw back is that it's easer to auger, so I go in about 1/3 to 1/2 throttle and that's after I chop throttle before I dive. The exception (for me) is that if the air space is hot with enemy cons and one is chasing me, I will make a shallower high speed dive and immediately wep on after I drop ords. In both cases, I stay low, and I mean LOW, just off ground and level until I clear the ack. I see alot of guys drop and then pull up. That's the worst thing to do because the ack usually hits you. If you stay low, the ack usually misses. Watch out for trees.

Newest variations of previous sights made. They look different in the plane, cleaner and a brighter color.

If you wanted to use one of these sights on this page you would....


Right click on image, choose SAVE IMAGE AS, Keep same name but look to see where it is being saved (you can choose a different location if you like, I use My pictures or the desktop) Then find image and drag and drop right into your sights folder.



Your Sight Folder is normally located in C:\HTC\Aces High II\sights or C:Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\sights

If you were to load this sight before watching this vid by Steve you would see how the sight works. If you do, pay attn. to where Steve is shooting on the sight. Use the slow-mo option slider (1x) to get a better idea of how to use it or any sight you have loaded in your P-51.

Another variation. The last one i liked but it got me a little confused. Trying to put the plane in the inverted triangle was not as easy as I wanted ot to be. I removed most of the triangle and just left the three dots that you see.

Put the plane in that area and pull the trigger. Good for spits, f6's and 51's.

The vertical lines mid sight are used for rockets and leading the targets when diving for a bomber lets say.

The bottom of the sight is used for making those nose up or high G turning shots. Just put the plane in there and shoot.

Osti and Whirb gun sight. Seems to work very well. I posted this one on the HTC boards as a pic and I got a few PM's telling me that they loved it... that usually does not happen. One guy said he used it in a plane..I don't think it's made for that.

I have used that first site for over 2 years. It is my default site and the ONLY one I use!
