| CH Fighter Stick, Throttle, Rudders - fairly basic key map - I need to sit down and revise it and make notes of all the keyboard commands I find myself reaching for in flight and put them in the stick file. I don't know how some of you guys fly with no rudder pedals! | |

| Settings i used in May of 08...just found them on my puter. Might switch them to currant #'s since going by the score board I did well with them then.
The #'s in blue are all that matter and the file can be found in C:\HTC\Aces High II\settings under whatever your stick manufactures name is.
I use Ch Products so I have 3 files. One for stick, rudder and throttle. The file is called a .JSM file and will need to be opened with either notepad or wordpad to view it.
Don't forget! Before you change anything, make a copy of the old file and put it on your desktop for later retrieval if needed. These setting work for CH products but even if you did not use CH stuff they are a good place to start. Once finished, recal in windows then the game just in case...or try them out as is to see how it feels.
ALL TWISTY STICKS NEED A HIGHER DEAD BAND SETTING ON THE AXIS THAT CONTROLS RUDDER TO STOP UNINTENTIONAL MOVEMENT WHILE DOGFIGHTING. To see how deadband or damping work, test each separately. Move slider to top then move your stick around.
You will notice Deadband stops any input from initiating. Damping slows input or creates a delay. Damping is usually used to control nose bounce.

| Haha - yea you guys have it rough!
Is this it? Doesn't look like the same stuff. I believe I'm using default response curves - with a slight deadband and slight damper. Anything other than default curves feels odd to me because a linear pull on the stick doesn't result in a linear input in the game. | Nope, your not using any scaling at all. All your sliders must be at the top. If you had default settings it would start at 10 and end with 100 but there are no #'s showing.
The #'s that are I suspect are calibration #'s and included with them are dead band and damping. Whats odd is that your very first number is 0 in all three fields. I'm guessing you have a lot of input travel, stick has a long throw or however it is I'm trying to put it.
I was looking for old stick posts that contained the pictures of the actual slider in game. For most who use ch products starting at 50% with the first slider works for them while others with less expensive sticks did better starting at about 25-30% and stair stepping up......for elevators that is.
Ailerons some like it with no scaling or some scaling.
Dead band and damping are KEY with any stick as you can leave the defaults sliders on and adjust from there. To fine tune to your heavy or light hand you'll need the sliders. I happen to be a little heavy fisted. | |

| I now use a logitech extreme3d pro, damn thing is screwy. After adjusting and dampening I can fly with it but it's taking some getting used to. Hopefully I will be back in full swing soon. I guess practice is all it's going to take. See ya'll up!

| I have used a Logitech extreme 3D Pro for a very long time. Last year when I was heavy into this game I bought and tried the X52 but I just was not having any luck using it. I am just too used to using the twist stick. If anyone needs help setting one of these up, feel free to ask. I do not claim to know it all, but I can get the user steered in the right direction. | |
